History & Legacy of North Carolina A&T State University
North Carolina A&T State University was established in 1891 under the Second Morrill Act to provide higher education opportunities for African Americans in North Carolina. Originally founded as an agricultural and mechanical college, the institution expanded its academic scope over time to include advanced research and graduate education.
