Laila West, expected class of 2029, is from Alpharetta, Georgia. Laila is studying Mechanical Engineering at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. During the summer of 2026, Laila served as an Aggie Success Leader, mentoring and supporting incoming students as they transitioned to North Carolina A&T. Through New Student Orientation, she welcomed students and families, facilitated orientation sessions, led campus tours, and connected students with academic resources and campus opportunities. Laila is also committed to community service through initiatives focused on mentorship and STEM education. Through Leaders In Training, she mentors an elementary school student by encouraging personal growth, confidence, and creativity. She also volunteers with Aggies for Engineering & Community Enrichment, where she mentors elementary students in robotics and helps them develop teamwork, communication, and coding skills. Additionally, Laila supports her community through food distribution efforts with Evangel Fellowship Christian Church. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a master’s degree and Ph.D. to continue advancing her knowledge and expertise in engineering.
