Zhane Austin

Junior Board Member

Zhane Austin is an associate at Akin Gump, an international law firm, where she works in the Investment Management practice group. Zhane counsels fund sponsors, managers, investors and other market participants in all aspects of the formation and operation of private investment funds, including private equity funds, credit funds and hedge funds.
At Akin, Zhane serves as a member of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, where she works on matters with the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless, the Children’s Law Center, the Mississippi Center for Justice, and the Legal Clinic for the Elderly.
Prior to joining the workforce, Zhane earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A with honors from Hampton University (the real HU). While in law school Zhane served as a subciter for the Harvard Negotiation Law Review, training director of the Harvard Mediation Program, and member of the Harvard Black Law Students Association.
Zhane’s support on the junior board serves as an opportunity to give back to the Williams-Franklin Foundation, as she was an awardee herself while at Hampton.
