Shelby Foulks, a returning Williams-Franklin Foundation Scholar, is expected to graduate in 2027 from Hampton University, where she is studying Biochemistry with a minor in Public Health. During the summer of 2026, Shelby returned to Dartmouth College for her second year as an intern through the POWERED Program, where she conducted cancer research at the Dartmouth Cancer Center. Through this experience, she continues to strengthen her research skills and gain valuable insight into biomedical science and oncology while preparing for her future career in medicine. Shelby is also committed to service and supporting others through educational outreach and community care. Through the National Hampton Alumni Association, she assists with recruitment fairs and helps connect prospective students and families with information about Hampton University. She also volunteers with the Serving Sunday Ministry and Auntie Advocate at MLK Park in Norfolk, Virginia, where she helps distribute meals, organize supplies, and support community members experiencing food insecurity. As Treasurer of Hampton University’s Minority Association for Pre-Health Students (MAPS), Shelby helps coordinate programs, workshops, and service initiatives that support pre-health students. Upon graduation, she plans to attend medical school and continue her journey in healthcare.
