Donte Abney, expected class of 2029, is from Bowie, Maryland. He is studying Dual Degree Robotics Engineering and Physics at Clark Atlanta University. During the summer of 2026, Donte participated in the 2026 PREM Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program at Cornell University, where he designed a remote temperature monitoring system for laser-heated growth of thin films. Through this experience, he gained hands-on laboratory experience, participated in professional development workshops, and explored advanced research facilities, including the Wilson Lab synchrotron. The Williams-Franklin Foundation Scholarship provides Donte with critical support as he continues his academic journey and pursues opportunities in engineering and research. Upon graduation, he plans to continue his education by earning a Ph.D. in Robotics Engineering and a Doctorate in Education.
