Delilah Woods, a returning Williams-Franklin Foundation Scholar, is expected to graduate in 2028 from Alabama State University, where she is studying Forensic Biology. During the summer of 2026, Delilah conducted research in the Chemistry Department at Furman University, where she investigated chitosan-based nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery. Her research focused on evaluating how different crosslinker concentrations affect particle size, stability, and aggregation, as well as examining how varying pH conditions influence the release of encapsulated proteins. Through this experience, Delilah strengthened her laboratory and analytical skills while gaining valuable insight into biomedical research. The Williams-Franklin Foundation Scholarship has supported Delilah’s educational journey by allowing her to pursue opportunities that contribute to her academic growth and career aspirations. Upon graduation, she plans to attend medical school and earn her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
