Cariuna Ellison, expected class of 2028, is from Chattanooga, Tennessee. She is studying Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Fisk University. In summer 2025, she participated in Meharry Medical College’s MSBIO-PATH Program, where she gained hands-on experience in protein expression and a deeper understanding of structural biology and its role in treating infectious diseases. She will also participate in the HBCU Wellness Project’s Summer Institute Training as a Student Health Ambassador. At Fisk, Cariuna serves as Vice President of Fisk University ACS, is a member of Chattanooga Girls’ Leadership Academy, and volunteers at the Martha O’Bryan Center. After graduation, she hopes to earn a master’s degree in biotechnology or bioengineering.
