Returning awardee Amy Challe, expected class of 2019, immigrated to the United States from Sierra Leone, Africa. She is pursuing an associate degree at the University of the District of Columbia, an institution dedicated to serving the needs of the community of the District of Columbia, in Early Childhood Education. Amy currently holds a degree in business administration from the Institute of Public Administration and Management in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Before serving as a Cultural Affairs Assistant for the United States Embassy in Sierra Leone, Amy was a Project Officer for War Child, an NGO dedicated to protecting children and peace advocacy in war-torn countries. Amy plans to pursue a Ph.D. and serve as an inspiration to other students, especially immigrant students who relocate for educational and professional opportunities.<br />
