Alysia-Renee Surrell, expected class of 2028, is from Stockton, California. She is studying Honors Legal Communications with a minor in Political Science at Howard University. During summer 2026, Alysia shadowed the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Kaiser Permanente, where she conducted research examining how women of color are impacted by disparities within the healthcare system. This experience strengthened her passion for advocacy and reinforced her commitment to advancing equity through law and public policy. At Howard University, Alysia is dedicated to academic excellence while preparing for a career in the legal profession. Upon graduating with her bachelor's degree, she plans to attend a top-tier law school with the goal of opening her own law firm. Through her work, she hopes to provide high-quality legal representation, advocate for underserved communities, and create opportunities that empower others to overcome systemic barriers.
