Allison J. Burgess, expected class of 2029, is from Brandywine, Maryland. She is studying Pre-Veterinary Medicine at Southern University and A&M College. During summer 2026, Allison dedicated her time to preparing for her transition to Southern University by connecting with department chairs, exploring Baton Rouge, and immersing herself in the university community. She also pursued leadership opportunities, including becoming a Yard Ambassador through the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF). These experiences have allowed her to build meaningful relationships, strengthen her leadership skills, and prepare to make a positive impact as a Southern University student. Upon graduating with her bachelor's degree, Allison plans to attend an accredited veterinary school to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and specialize in veterinary ophthalmology. Her goal is to improve the quality of life for animals through compassionate, specialized care while advancing the field of veterinary medicine.
