On January 26, the Williams-Franklin Foundation hosted an insightful “Personal Finance 101” webinar featuring Monica Davis, Founder and Managing Partner of MFD Advisory where all things financial wellness were discussed. Joining the discussion were WFF alumni Olivia Aiken and Virgil Parker.
MFD Advisory specializes in assisting private market investors, general partners (GPs), and investor relations (IR) teams by providing outsourced IR services. Their expertise helps streamline fundraising efforts and improve communication with limited partners (LPs).
The webinar focused on three essential pillars of financial wellness: maintaining good credit, building emergency savings, and managing debt. Olivia Aiken emphasized the importance of having a financial safety net: “One of your first savings goals when you are working full-time is establishing an emergency fund. I also save for specific things. Setting yourself up for financial success means having consistent savings.”
Monica Davis reinforced this message, urging attendees to be mindful of their financial habits: “Do not be afraid to live at your means. Do not let society pressure you to live like the Joneses.” Her advice underscored the significance of making smart financial choices and resisting societal pressure to overspend.
