Déja A. Daniel

Junior Board Member

Déja A. Daniel is a first-year law student at Thurgood Marshall School of Law (TMSL). She
graduated Summa Cum Laude from Howard University in 2024, earning dual Bachelor’s degrees
in Criminology and Spanish, along with a minor in Political Science. Originally from Tallahassee,
FL, Déja has called Atlanta, GA home for nearly a decade.

As an aspiring bilingual criminal defense and education attorney, Déja ultimately hopes to serve
as a judge. With law as a driving force behind her academic and professional journey, Déja has
interned with the Atlanta Bar Association Summer Law Internship Program at the Douglas County
District Attorney’s Office, the Office of United States Senator Jon Ossoff, and the Coalition on
Human Needs. She also worked on the 2024 Harris for President Campaign in Raleigh, North
Carolina and traveled to Madrid, Spain in 2022 as a Legal Fellow of the Lex Fellowship.

At Howard, Déja served as Secretary of the Howard University Pre-Law Chapter of Phi Alpha
Delta Law Fraternity, International. At TMSL, she continues her leadership as the 1L Class
Secretary on the Student Bar Association 1L Class Board. In addition to Déja’s involvement in her
campus community, she devoted additional time to tutoring incarcerated students through the Petey
Greene Program in Washington, D.C., speaking on college and scholarship panels for high school
students, and volunteering with children of domestic violence survivors as a Play Ranger with the
Playtime Project. Guided by her commitment to educational equity, Déja is also the Founder and
Executive Director of Igniting Scholarly Confidence, a non-profit organization that empowers
students from diverse backgrounds to access higher education through scholarship support.

Déja has been recognized as a Houston Lawyers Association Inaugural Judge Belinda Hill
Scholarship Recipient, 2025 National Black Law Students Association Nelson Mandela Pre-Law
Scholarship Recipient, Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Scholar, Patricia Roberts Harris
Fellowship for Public Affairs Fellow, among several other honors. Utilizing her knowledge and
resources to positively impact marginalized communities, Déja strives to break down systemic
barriers in not only her life, but also the lives of others.
