Adetomiwa Victor Owoseni

Board Member

Adetomiwa Victor Owoseni is a Nigerian-American physician, public health researcher, and policy enthusiast who is passionate about global health equity and improving health systems for Black communities globally. Throughout his career, he has worked with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control to improve access to critical HIV medications, collaborated with New York City community-based organizations to address negative social determinants of health, and lobbied U.S. elected representatives to advocate for increased funding for a global COVID-19 response. An ardent writer, he has published multiple articles pushing for increased representation of Black physicians in medicine and for directed funding toward various global health causes in platforms such as the New England Journal of Medicine and the University of Oxford “Voices” blog. Dr. Owoseni has also collaborated with the local city government of Cape Town, South Africa to increase usage of a novel electronic health information system for improved health-related data access.

Dr. Owoseni holds a Bachelor of Science from Howard University, a Master of Public Policy from the University of Oxford Blavatnik School of Government, and a Doctor of Medicine from Harvard Medical School. He completed a general surgery internship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and is currently undergoing residency training in anesthesiology at Northwestern University.
